What happens during the assessment?

During the assessment, a licensed professional will ask you questions about your alcohol and drug use history, your DWI incident(s), your personal and family background, and your current lifestyle. There are no trick questions — we're here to understand your situation and provide an honest, professional evaluation.

What documents or information should I bring?

You should have your driver's license or state ID available, as well as any documentation related to your DWI case (such as your court order or Secretary of State letter). If you have completed any prior treatment programs, having that information is extremely helpful. Also be prepared to take a series of drug/alcohol tests. You will be required to show sustained abstinence from intoxicating substances when you submit your application packet to the Secretary of State. We can help you find a suitable lab for a urine or mouth swab test in your area. No home administered tests will be allowed, it must be conducted in a professional lab. It's a  good idea to have at least 60 days of tests (Weekly or Monthly) to show abstinence of drugs and alcohol.

We conduct all assessments via Zoom to make the process as convenient and accessible as possible. You don't need to travel to an office — you can complete your assessment from the privacy and comfort of your own home, on your schedule.

Do I need a Zoom account?

No, you do not need a Zoom account. You can join the session as a guest using the link we provide. You will need a device with a camera and microphone (a smartphone, tablet, or computer all work).

Is the Zoom session private and confidential?

Yes. Your session is completely private and confidential. We do not record sessions. All information you share is protected under standard clinical confidentiality rules, with the same exceptions that apply to in-person sessions (such as imminent safety concerns).

Is this assessment accepted by the Michigan Secretary of State?

Yes. Our assessments are conducted by a licensed professional and meet the requirements set by the Michigan Secretary of State for license reinstatement hearings. We provide the documentation you need to submit with your reinstatement application.

In most cases, you will receive your completed assessment report within 5 to 7 business days after your session,  provided your tox screens have been conducted prior to your report being created. If you have a hearing scheduled and need it sooner, please let us know at the time of booking and we will do our best to accommodate your timeline.
